It is with great pleasure that we announce the visit of The Very Ven. Thrangu Rinpoche to Edmonton on September 15th – 21st, of this year. Most of you have met our revered teacher and for those who haven’t, this is a most auspicious occasion for you to meet him. He is the 9th re-incarnation of his lineage and has the highest degree Geshe Rabjam as well as several other accomplishments. His timely visit, just before winter is a soothing blessing of his grace. We are honored to share his presence.

Thrangu Rinpoche was appointed by`His Holiness the Dalai Lama as the senior tutor to His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, the head of the Karma Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Thrangu Rinpoche maintains an active teaching schedule visiting his numerous international centres, including Edmonton. He has published numerous books, maintains monasteries, retreat centres, a university, a school for refugee children, a clinic and other projects. His knowledge, skill and compassion is boundless.

Fri. Sept.18th    Public Talk, 7 – 8pm: ‘Generating Compassion in Daily Life’.

Sat. Sept 19th:   10am – Group Meditation.

Sat. Sept 19th    10.30 – 11.30 am: Teaching on: ‘The Dorje Chang Prayer with Mahamudra.’

Sat. Sept 19th    11.30am – 3.30 pm  LUNCH

Sat. Sept 19th    3.30 – 4.30pm: Continuation of: ‘The Dorje Chang Prayer with Mahamudra.

Sun. Sept. 20th  10 am – Group Meditation.

Sun. Sept. 20th  10.30 am – 12 noon: Manjushri Empowerment.

Private interviews will be held at Karma Tashi Ling on Sun.Sept 20th between 3.30 – 5pm. KTL is located at 10502 – 70 Avenue.  Please approach Sheridan Mahoney at the retreat to book your interview.

Program Fee for the whole program is $60 or $30/day.

Fri, Sat. & Sun. events (except private interviews) will be held in the Rutherford Room at Varscona Hotel On Whyte, 8208-106St. There are 3 floors of free parking at the west side of the hotel, but license plate number has to be registered at front desk, otherwise tickets will be issued. There is a Second Cup Coffee Shop as well as the Empress dining in the hotel. Many other eating places are in the vicinity.
