Karma Tashi Ling
Kagyu Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Society
Vision of the Centre:
The society's main purpose is to further the study and practice of Buddhist principles and meditation in the Tibetan Karma Kagyu Tradition, under the spiritual direction of the Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. Thrangu Rinpoche is an accomplished meditation master and an esteemed holder of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Rinpoche is well known for making complex teachings accessible to students; Karma Tashi Ling is one of several practice centres which have been established around the world under his guidance.
Our resident lama, Ani Kunsang:
Ani Kunsang did the traditional three year retreat during which she completed all of the practices of the Kagyu lineage. This involves intense study and practice of meditation and Buddhist principles. In January 2005, Ani La came to Edmonton to teach and guide activities at the Centre.
About the Centre:
At Karma Tashi Ling, we offer open meditation sessions on every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening, focusing on a Tibetan Buddhist Vajrayana practice known as Deity Meditation. Engaging in this form of spiritual cultivation develops focus and attention, and it is a means for the meditator to accumulate merit and generate Bodhicitta (the mind of awakening). We also have retreats, and offer teachings by visiting lamas. Everyone is welcome, regardless of your level of experience with Buddhism.
Ani Kunsang is also available for individual instruction and for answering questions.
